Potassium sulfate

Product introduction Potassium sulfate:

Potassium sulfate is a chemical inorganic chemical (inorganic) with the chemical formula K2SO4. This combination is white to cream color and is soluble in water. Mineral salts of potassium sulfate are also found in various compositions, such as cayenite, shunite, leonite, gabbnite, glasrit and polylhite.

Cainite, MgSO4 · KCl · H2O
Schönite, K2SO4 · MgSO4 · 6H2O
Leonite, K2SO4 · MgSO4 · 4H2O
Langbeinite, K2Mg2 (SO4) 3
Glaserite, K3Na (SO4) 2
Polyhalide, K2SO4 · MgSO4 · 2CaSO4 · 2H2O

Applications and uses of potassium sulfate

The highest amount of potassium sulfate used in agriculture, as potassium sulfate fertilizer, is the supply of potassium and sulfur. This material is not harmful to plants due to the absence of chlorine in its composition. Also, potassium sulfate is used in glass making. In military industries, potassium sulfate is used to reduce the light intensity of light bullets from heavy bullets, such as balls, tanks and mortars.

Potassium sulfate production method
To produce potassium sulfate, mineral potassium chloride is first crushed and crushed. The crushed potassium chloride powder, after crushing, is transferred to the agitated reactor, which is an acidic anti-acid stain, and added to the sulfuric acid. The reactor heating boosts the efficiency and speed of the reaction. The reaction of sulfuric acid with potassium chloride, potassium sulfate and hydrogen chloride gas is produced. The gas produced should be collected and cooled by the sucker to become hydrochloric acid, which is the product of the reaction. The potassium sulfate solution inside the reactor should be filtered in the next step to separate the insoluble impurities from the soil. A clear solution of a subfiltration containing potassium sulfate which, after boiling and condensation, is transferred to the cooling ponds for crystallization. After the solution cools down, solid potassium sulfate will be usable and packaged for sale. In this way, to improve the quality, the reaction mixture can be heated independently in a heater fluid bed, up to 700 degrees Celsius.

2KCl + H2SO4 → K2SO4 + 2HCl

Another method for producing potassium sulfate was developed by Hargreaves. In this method, potassium sulfate is produced by reacting potassium chloride with a mixture of sulfur dioxide, water and air.
2KCl + SO2 + 0.5O2 → K2SO4 + 2HCl
Potassium sulfate can also be produced from the redistribution of other metal sulfates (especially magnesium sulfate). This reaction is done in two steps.

2KCl + 2MgSO4 + H2O → K2SO4. MgSO4.6H2O + MgCl2

The diced salt is removed and reacted with additional potassium chloride.

2KCl + K2SO4. MgSO4.6H2O → 2K2SO4 + MgCl2
